Today, April 30th, is Walpurgisnacht (Walpurgis Night) in Germany. It is the eve of the feast day of St Walpurga, an abbess in the 8th century who was originally from Devon in England. The Germans also call today Hexennacht (Witches’ Night) because in German folklore it is the night when the witches meet on the Brocken, the highest peak in the Harz Mountains. So in celebration of Walpurgisnacht, here’s a fantastic song of the same name by the German band Faun. Click here for a translation.
