We have a quaint tradition here in Oxford on May Morning. The choir of Magdalen (pronounced Maudlin) College Chapel sings the Hymnus Eucharisticus from the (very tall) tower of Magdalen College at six o’clock in the morning, whilst crowds of revellers (many of whom have been up all night) gather below on Magdalen Bridge.
I’ve scheduled this post to go out at six in the morning because I intend to be firmly tucked up in bed, fast asleep, at that time. However, I will say that as a student I did manage to stay up for one May Morning, eating pot noodles to keep me going through the night.
